Billboard Liberation Front Icons, 2024

These three fictional icons were created to represent the Billboard Liberation Front. The Billboard Liberation Front was an anticonsumerism movement founded in 1977. Its mission was to publicize the art of the billboard by changing graphics and text on existing corporate billboards, despite it being illegal. This topic was chosen because it was ironic to the concept of creating, graphic design being both their method and madness. It was inspired by their act of rebellion being so unapologetic and human, as they believed that they were not destroying billboards but improving them. The icon design was approached with the idea of humanness and imperfection in mind, as well as the silliness of their image.
