Interactive Site & Lenticular Card, 4” x 6”
Digital Media Design, ART315, University of San Francisco
This site is a four page interaction piece inspired by the story of Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan. Each page includes a collage created using found magazine scraps. It was then scanned, scaled, and edited in Photoshop to form scenes of mountains and valleys, representing the ups and downs of life. The first page plays a p5.js interaction, while the rest play GIFs, and the arrow on the right only clicks the viewer forward, emulating the passing of time. The entire site was coded using HTML & CSS. The combination between physical and digital formats showcases the book as a digital memory and provides a contrast to traditional coded websites. Each page also has a line from the book in the top left corner, narrating the scenes. In addition, the project includes a lenticular card (above), visualizing the mountain scenes from left to right and showcasing time’s passing in a physical manner. Finally, the site was launched using Github, which can be accessed here:
